چکیده

Morphological characterization facilitates the seed production agencies to identify varieties on phenotypic basis by their distinguished characters. The presence of sufficient variability for various agro-morphological traits, as well improvement these traithrough selection and introduction new alleles, lines, accessions into breeding activity from both exotic indigenous collections, aids in identification potential donors. In present study, 100 genotypes including 96 RIL (recombinant inbred lines), two parental national checks were planted at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur. Fourteen phenological trait viz. growth type, habit, flower colour, leaf size lateral leaflet, shape intensity green pod hairiness, pod: colour hair, size, shape, coat testa, lustre, hilum funicle observed different stages plants. Among Semi- determinant type (97%), Semi erect habit (98%), white (99%), Pod hair (100%) same testa (97%) most dominating. Whereas Seed [yellow (74%), yellow-green (24%) Green (2 %)], Hilum [black (48%) brown (43%) imperfect black (9%)] [spherical (48%), spherical flattened (33%), (16%) elongated (3%)] varied among genotypes.

Genetic variation in an inbred plant: variation in tissue cultures of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill].

Although soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] grows as an inbreeding, generally homozygous, plant, the germplasm of the species contains large amounts of genetic variation. Analysis of soybean DNA has indicated that variation of RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) markers within the species usually entails only two alleles at any one locus and that mixtures of such dimorphic loci acco...

Assessment of seed storage protein composition of six Iranian adopted soybean cultivars [Glycine max (L.) Merrill.]

Seed protein quality is an important topic in the production of soybean. The quality of soybean proteins is limited by anti-nutrient proteins and low levels of essential sulfur amino acids. In this study, protein content and solubility of six cultivars were evaluated and seed storage proteins were analyzed using SDS-PAGE and scanning densitometry. The results showed that seed storage protein ba...

Improvement of qualitative and quantitative traits in soybean [Glycine Max (L.) Merrill] through gamma irradiation

Gamma irradiation was used at different doses (80, 160 and 240 Gy) on Glycine Max (L.) Merrill cv. Hill homogenous seeds. A single suitable M2 plant was selected and evaluated at M3 and M4 along with its parent and three other varieties as control in RCBD experiment in Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University’s experimental field. M-8...

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr].

In this chapter we describe an Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation method of soybean that utilizes mature half seeds and regeneration from the cotyledonary node region. This method results in fertile transformed soybean plants and transgenic seed in approximately 9 months. Using mature half seeds as starting material has proven to be a reliable method that does not require additional wound...

Effect of Storage Periods on Seed Quality Characteristics of Three Soybean (Glycine max (L) Merrill) Varieties

Seed storage experiment was carried out to investigate the most appropriate period of storing and preserving soybean seed quality under ambient conditions. Germination percentage, seed vigour, moisture content, 1000 seed weight, protein and oil contents were assessed before storage (control), three months (90 days) and six months (180 days) after storage. The results indicated that soybean seed...
